ASTROLOGICAL PSYCHOLOGICAL INSTITUTE

The founders of the API based in Geneva, Switzerland are Bruno and Louise Huber. This couple have an illustrious background. Bruno was a brilliant and innovative thinker and Louise studied extensively the spiritual teachings of Alice Bailey. They did not just develop theories they walked their talk. They also studied with Roberto Assagioli in the growth psychology Psychosynthesis.

TOOLS FOR CHART INTERPRETATION

These are in addition to the traditional methods of birth chart delineation.

COLOUR

A fundamental part of an API birth chart is colour. This helps with the intuitive element of interpretation.

Red shows cardinal motivation (acting). Green for mutable motivation (learning) and Blue for fixed motivation (being).

ASPECT PATTERNS

These show our inner motivation. As well as the traditional aspect patterns such as the T-Square, Yod, Kite, etc I use far more variations. This gives more information about the interrelationship of the planetary drives, based on the type, size, direction, motivation, quadrant and colour of the pattern. 

HOUSE DYNAMIC CURVE

Most astrologers recognise stronger areas of the chart such as the angles. However, further information can be found from looking at the position of a planet in its house and by the amount and quality of energy available to it. This indicates whether it is recognised by others and gets opportunities to develop or whether it is working more on an internal level.

THE EGO STRUCTURE

This consists of Sun (sense of self/individuality) Moon (emotional self/interaction with others) and Saturn (sense of structure/personal boundaries).

These form a very important part of our personality. Their drives and energies direct our lives. It is beneficial for us to direct them consciously and to have mind, emotions and body in perfect harmony. However, it is more usual for them to be unbalanced with one stronger than the others.

Understanding that this is natural, working with your strengths and accepting that some parts of your personality need consciously developing will lead to integration of the personality.

THE FAMILY MODEL

The Birth chart can show the subjective nature of the relationship to our parents and what role models they provided in the formative years.

THE HOUSE CHART - NATURE VERSUS NURTURE

The House chart represents the family and the environment we are born into and which shapes us. With understanding we have the option of choosing whether to use the inherited potential in the birth chart or the conditioned potential from the House chart. This is how you create your own future in the power of the now.

DYNAMIC CALCULATIONS

These are mathematical calculations which show the balance between inherent characteristics and the demands of the environment. Whether there is balance or conflict. This shows potential for possible stress or under-utilised innate skills and abilities.

POLAR AXES

These are six pairs of opposing houses. The inner conflict experienced with oppositions can be overcome by concentrating on the corresponding (by motivation) axis.

THE NODE CHART - THE PAST

The Node chart shows the totality of our past experiences. The skills, knowledge and behaviour patterns we have brought into this lifetime. These are subconscious motivations. Understanding and illuminating these drives means that our life can be directed more consciously.

THE NODAL AXIS (THE AXIS OF FATE)

This represents a path of personal and spiritual growth. An opportunity to move from an area of comfort and familiarity into exciting and challenging new experiences. The houses show the area of life where the experience is to be found and the signs show how we can undertake it.

THE THREE LEVELS

Planets can operate at three levels - Asleep, where your own concerns and needs come first and your reactions are instinctive and with little thought for others. Waking, where there is more conscious direction and self-awareness, with a consideration of the needs of others and acting with more responsibility. Awake, is the level where you are in balance and making good choices about your life and carrying them out. You are aware of and interested in leading a more spiritual-based life and are in touch with your intuition and aware of the inclusiveness with all life. You are considering how you can work with and for others without any need for recognition.

THE TRANSPERSONAL PLANETS AND THE SPIRITUAL PATH

These are often blamed for negative experiences, life changes that are not self-initiated. Operating at an asleep level they do cause problems. Trans-personal means beyond the personal which gives a clue as to their function. They are more positive when they are used consciously and impersonally.

Uranus - is creative intelligence/the higher mind. It is the drive for independence, freedom, originality, research and new insights and inventions. In the quest for something new the old is swept away.

Neptune - is unconditional or ideal love. A love that is all-inclusive and which identifies with everything. Love has no limits or boundaries and accepts others for who and what they are. Asleep Neptune is the search for ideal love and can see an illusion rather than reality. Awake Neptune is empathic and understands the quality of love in the spiritual realms.

Pluto - is Divine will. Do you control yourself or others or are you willing to relinquish guidance to a higher Will? In the quest for perfection Pluto will dismantle and then rebuild, from the inside out. It works in a powerful and intense way revealing things that could have remained hidden. At a higher level it brings personal growth which is transformative.

The area of your chart where the Transpersonal Planets are located gives an indication of where and how they are operating in your life and which planet(s) is the strongest influence.

PSYCHOSYNTHESIS

Astrological psychology provides an in-depth view of the psyche. By choosing to accept and understand our true nature we can choose to consciously shape and integrate our personality. The three transpersonal planets work on a different level of consciousness. They are the link between our personality and the spiritual energies available to us.
